Sanctuary Early Learning • January 16, 2024

As we embark on an exciting new chapter for our Ashmore Early Learning Centre, we are delighted to introduce our proactive and forward-thinking leadership team, who are dedicated to creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for our Sanctuary children.

Meet the Leaders: Tammy Haynes, Madison Crombie, Sarah Harris and Georgia Casey!

Our new leadership team brings a wealth of experience and passion for early childhood education:

Centre Director: Tammy Haynes is a seasoned professional with a deep commitment to fostering a love for learning in young minds. She also understands the importance of collaboration between parents, educators, and the community. Her extensive background in early childhood development ensures that your child’s time at Sanctuary will be filled with enriching experiences that lay the foundation for a bright future.

Assistant Director: Madison Crombie’s creativity knows no bounds! With a background in designing innovative and engaging educational programs, she is dedicated to providing an environment where your child can explore, discover, and learn through play. Madison is committed to sustainability and embedding First Nations perspectives throughout the centre, she is also a mentor through Inclusion Support with their Mobo Jarjums network. She believes in the power of curiosity and strives to make every day an adventure for our little learners.

Educational Leader: Sarah Harris with a Masters in education, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum at Sanctuary Ashmore, ensuring it aligns with the latest research and best practices in early childhood development. Her commitment to fostering an holistic and inclusive learning experience is evident in her mentoring and guidance within the team.

Early Childhood Teacher: Georgia Casey – straight out of New Zealand, holding a Bachelor of Education, Miss Georgia believes that the child, their language, identity, and culture should be the forefront of every decision made in the educational setting. Her dedication to understanding each child’s unique learning needs and interests, ensures that the learning environment is tailored to facilitate their individual growth and development. She has a drive to create spaces where every child feels seen, heard, safe, and celebrated, fostering an atmosphere that encourages them to realise their full potential and capabilities. She is looking forward to expanding her knowledge within an Australian early childhood context.

Welcome Back Miss Keira and Miss Jo!

In addition to our new leaders, we are excited to welcome back two familiar faces:

Miss Keira – known for her love and passion for messy play, she knows how to create a safe and joyful learning environment, and this makes her an invaluable member of our team. Keira left to explore alternative providers, to realise how the Sanctuary philosophy is embedded in her heart and practice – calling her back to Sanctuary Ashmore.

Miss Jo – previously our Early Childhood Teacher at Sanctuary Maudsland, we welcome her to our amazing Sanctuary Ashmore team! Miss Jo’s bubbly personality and commitment to fostering young imaginations creates an environment where children are provided with space to learn and grow at their pace.

At Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure Ashmore, we believe in creating an atmosphere where every child can thrive. With our new leadership team and the familiar faces you know and love, we are committed to providing an exceptional early learning experience for your child.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we continue to nurture young minds and build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Our Mid-Year Summative Assessments are now available for families to view on OWNA. These assessments are more than a form. They are built from the Early Years Learning Framework (and, for our Kindergarten children, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline), which sets out the developmental milestones we look for as children grow. Twice a year, our educators bring together everything they have observed, from everyday moments to learning stories and photos, to show where your child is thriving and where they are developing next. You will see your child's strengths and achievements front and centre, along with any emerging skills we are watching grow. Where an assessment shows a child may benefit from a little extra support, that is never a cause for concern. It simply gives us the chance to work alongside you early, so we can put the right support in place together and help your child keep moving forward with confidence. Your child's summative assessment is one part of a bigger picture. Each centre also runs a quarterly developmental monitoring cycle, where educators check in regularly on how every child is tracking against those same EYLF milestones, not just at the mid and end of year points. This means nothing is left to chance between assessments. If something emerges that needs a closer look, our educators can act on it early rather than waiting for the next formal assessment to come around. This ongoing monitoring is what allows your summative assessment to feel like a natural update rather than a surprise. By the time you read it, your educators have likely already been watching, adjusting and supporting your child's development all along, and the assessment simply puts that into words for you. This information also shapes what happens in the room. It helps us tailor our program so it continues to reflect your child's individual interests, strengths and needs. Where it would help, our Diversity and Inclusion Leader is also available to join the conversation, to make sure every child is supported to thrive. As part of a positive transition to school, we ask all Kindergarten families to book a meeting with their child's educator to talk through their assessment. Thank you for partnering with us as we nurture your child's unique learning journey.
